This 19 hour course is an introduction to track and field. It covers teaching progressions, long term athlete development, practice planning, error detection and correction, strength training, safety, rules, and more. Events covered include sprints, hurdles, relays, middle distance, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, javelin, and discus.
This 19 hour course is the follow up to the Sport Coach program. It covers long term athlete development part 2, mental preparation, nutrition, technical modules, analyze performance, strength training, and seasonal planning. There are four versions of this course. They are sprints & hurdles, jumps, distance, and throws. Brian can teach the Sprints & Hurdles course or the Jumps course. He can locate great instructors for the other two courses.
Once you have completed the Sport Coach or Club Coach program, you are trained. If you wish to be "certified", you must be evaluated. Brian is fully qualified to do your evaluation. In brief, the process requires the submission of a coaching portfolio and application through Athletics Ontario.
